I’m a Movement Not a Monument (I.A.M.M) is a non-profit organization based in Los Angeles that aims to promote youth to succeed academically and in life.

Duran Bowie decided to do his part in the community by establishing I.A.M.M in 2011. Growing up in poor conditions didn’t stop Bowie from doing what he truly loves now. He vows to help kids with valuable resources they might have never got to experience. Over the last 10 years, I.A.M.M has donated food and helped over 5,500 homeless citizens. Hosted over 37 events like Back to School, Thanksgiving Community Brunch, and Christmas Toy Festivals. Bowie and his team has put a lot of smiles on kids and families faces.

I.AM.M’s No Mind Left Behind program is just one of the ways that they help serve Los Angeles’ youth. This program tutors students through zoom while also providing an opportunity for young adults to be hired as tutors and give back to the community.

I’m a Movement Not a Monument provides a space for youth to connect with the community and succeed despite hurdles. This nonprofit organization makes it a priority to give back to underprivileged communities, especially during the holiday season.

They are hosting their 7th annual Thanksgiving Meal Giveaway on Nov. 24. IAMM serves the communities of Los Angeles and acknowledges the home insecurity crisis many Angelinos face.

They will serve over 1,000 homeless individuals a Thanksgiving meal as they value the community. Bowie also announced they are going to be having several drop-off locations in locations including Skid Row, Inglewood, Compton, and Watts.

In December, I.A.M.M will be hosting another toy drive that will spoil thousands of kids with Christmas gifts to make their day special. Bowie is excited to see the surprised faces on the kids like he did last year at the Believe 2 Receive Toy Festival, where his nonprofit provided presents to 2,000 children while also bringing barbers to cut the kids hair, nail technicians to paint nails and give out free food.

Bowie is really proud of the work he’s done in the past 10 years but hopes to be able to help more kids in different communities going through the same struggles.

Join Bowie at the Thanksgiving Meal Giveaway that will be hosted on Thursday, November 24th. Volunteers are appreciated to serve fresh four-course meal boxes to the homeless.
